Members of Long Stratton Gymnastics Club are jumping for joy after gaining a Sport England Grant.

The first gymnasts to join the new Special Olympics section of the club are pictured with the award granted by Sport England to hire the leisure centre to enable them to train.

The first gymnasts to join the new Special Olympics section of the club are pictured with the award granted by Sport England to hire the leisure centre to enable them to train.

The funding will help buy special equipment and support them and their coaches when they attend regional training events and competitions.

It is hoped others who may have learning, physical or emotional difficulties will soon join the small squad of five gymnasts.

The head of the section, Tyree Robinson, who successfully applied for the grant, holds a British Gymnastics coaching qualification to work with these children and is determined that the club will grow to allow more gymnasts like these to achieve their potential - and have fun.
