Diss 31, Havant 26

This was a fine display of rugby by the whole Diss squad, very satisfying for the large crowd of home supporters.

Diss put the appalling start of the previous week well behind them, attacking their visitors' line from the start.

The home side looked sharper than the previous week and came close to crossing the line twice early on and Mat Gardiner came very close with a long-range penalty attempt.

A rare excursion into the hosts' territory was rewarded by a penalty kicked by James Mcseveney to give Havant a surprise lead.

This lasted just three minutes when Michael Fuller crossed for the first of four Diss tries after some excellent work by the pack. Gardiner obliged with the conversion to take the score to 7-3 and give the home side the lead which they never conceded.

Good blind-side work by the forwards created the opportunity for Steve Hipwell to break away on the opposition's 10-yard line, outpace the covering defence finally beating the full-back to score an excellent individual try. Arron Bliss adding the conversion points, which he quickly followed with a penalty when the Havant second row Rob Mathews was yellow-carded to take the score to 17-3.

Michael Fuller was sent to the sidelines for taking out a player in the air. Whilst still reduced to 14 players, Diss extended their lead with a fine individual try from Aaron Bliss to which he added the extra points.

The home side's fly-half was sin binned but Diss were only reduced to 14 men as this coincided with the return of Fuller. Two penalties for Havant again converted by Mcserveney brought the score to 24-9.

Diss rapidly increased the score to 31–9 with a try by skipper Mat Richards, converted by Gardiner.

This score gave Diss their four- try bonus point and was the catalyst for a resurgent Havant who took advantage of some casual play and the binning of Deaglan Hall to score two converted tries and a penalty in the last ten minutes which gave them a losing bonus point.
