LONG Stratton visited Bungay for arguably their most important league game to date and came away with a well-deserved massive three points in the battle to avoid the drop.

Stratton went behind early on after not learning their lesson from the previous game against the hosts, conceding from a free kick, with the Bungay scoring from a free header.

Stratton then took the game to Bungay who had their keeper to thank for preserving their lead, pulling off a string of fine saves.

Eventually he was beaten when Paul Folkard, making his first start of the season for the first team soon made an impact, latching on to a loose ball and turned to smash home from short range.

Stratton continued to press, playing some neat football and another good move was finished well by Kelvin Willimott to put the Reds ahead.

Stratton went in at half-time 2-1 up but knew that they had been in this position before so many times this season.

Once again after a slow start to the second half Bungay got back on level terms.

This gave the Reds a wake-up call and they raised their game, once again taking the game to Bungay.

With 15 minutes left David Storey became the unlikely hero, latching on to a low cross and finishing coolly sending the Reds travelling fans wild.

Stratton played out the rest of the game dealing well from late pressure from the hosts.

This was a good all-round team performance but man of the match went to David Storey for his tireless work in midfield and what could turn out to be an invaluable goal.

Final score: Bungay Town 2, Long Stratton 3.

Long Stratton Reserves took the long trip to Sheringham and faced a tough game against a side undefeated since October.

A patched-up reserve side fell 3-0 down, including a controversial second goal.

But a second-half display full of pride and spirit saw Stratton rock the title challengers, hitting back with two goals, one a well-taken strike by Aaron Haynes. Haynes went close again in a one-on-one and Terry Green forced the keeper to tip a cross cum shot over the bar.

In the last 10 minutes Stratton, with four players under 20, against the odds, laid siege to the Shannocks' goal and the hosts were hanging on when the final whistle finally blew.

Craig Ball and Jonny Saunders at the heart of the defence both had colossal games for Stratton. Dale Wallis and Ben Stearman also played well.

The Chip Inn man of the match was Jonny Saunders.

Final score: Sheringham Reserves 3, Long Stratton Reserves 2.
