HARLESTON had a very good chance to go back to the top of the league and blew it against a hardworking Newton Flotman team going down 4-1.

HARLESTON had a very good chance to go back to the top of the league and blew it against a hardworking Newton Flotman team going down 4-1.

Despite Harleston having three key players out due to holidays there was no excuse in the performance from some of the players.

Newton Flotman's first goal came from some poor marking at the near post allowing the striker to nip between the defence and score easily.

The second goal came from a corner and again poor marking allowed Newton to score there second goal.

Harleston briefly then started to play football but did not really offer anything up front and good balls into the box went astray with no-one on the end of them.

Newton's third goal again came when two Harleston players were caught napping when it was easier to clear the ball, and the consequences of that resulted in Harleston giving away a stonewall penalty to which they duly scored to make it 3-0 at half-time.

In the second half Harleston made two changes, and Matty Goreham scored with his first touch to give Harleston a faint hope.

This was short lived as another mix-up between a defender and the goalkeeper let in Newton's striker to make it 4 1.

Harleston entertain North Walsham on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash, they will have to raise their game considerably after this performance.
