HARLESTON Reserves put the previous week's horror show behind them, and put in a fine fighting performance to earn a draw against league leaders Great Yarmouth Town Hall.

Harleston knew they were in for a tough game, but were fired up from the start for this match and came out of the blocks fast. With only five minutes son the clock, Paul Trudgill controlled well on the edge of the box and fired home a cracking half-volley on the turn, into the roof of the net which left the opposition goalkeeper with no chance.

Harleston's lead was however, short lived, with Town Hall equalising after 15 minutes with a cool finish.

The game was now turning into a real battle and Harleston had goalkeeper Shaun Button to thank for keeping the scores level at half-time with wonderful save high to his top right hand corner.

Harleston started the second half slowly as Town Hall began to impose themselves on the game. Ten minutes into the second half Town Hall took the lead with a fine finish from the leagues leading marksmen.

This goal seem to inspire Harleston who then began to play some excellent football, with the impressive Graham Doggett and Marcus Goodswen dominating the midfield area, and skipper Stefan Goodswen marshalling the defence superbly.

On 65 minutes Town Hall found themselves down to 10 men when their two-goal dangerman was dismissed.

From this Harleston surged on even more and were awarded a penalty when the dangerous Trudgill, whose pace had caused problems all afternoon was up-ended in the box.

However, Harleston could not convert the penalty, sending it high over the bar.

After five minutes more of constant Harleston pressure they were awarded another penalty following a hand-ball in the box.

Gavin Durham stepped up again only to see his effort saved, however, the referee noticed an infringement and Durham made it third time lucky and buried the rebound.

With the game now nicely poised at 2-2 with 10 minutes remaining, the referee abandoned the game after an incident with Town Hall players.

Harleston must now await the outcome of this abandonment, which is a shame as it takes away what was a fine performance by the team - with every player showing true heart and determination.
