Harleston Magpies remain unbeaten in the East League Premier Division but had to settle for a point after being held to a 2-2 draw by visitors City of Peterborough.

The game started with real intensity and Magpies picked up where they had left off the week before with a dominant showing in the first 10 minutes without coming away with a goal.

The game then became even with chances at both ends and Magpies were first to strike with a dinked reverse stick ball from Sam Paterson through to Archie Winter who calmly slotted a reverse sweep through the keeper's legs.

Peterborough equalised before the break through a nice well-worked team goal and the game became heated towards the end of the half with Magpies finding themselves down to 10 when Archie Winter was shown green with a minute to go.

The second half started in the same vein and as Magpies relieved the pressure through the pairing of Andrew Bedwell and Leigh Sitch the ball found its way to Pete Bale who managed to pick out Winter who was fresh on from the card.

He was left with a one versus one and cooly slotted a reverse from a tight angle to put the Pies 2-1 up.

The game became end to end, with both teams having chances, and Peterborough got back on level terms from a well-worked short corner and a good deflection which ended up going in off a Magpies' body.

Magpies travel to Chelmsford on Saturday where the aim will be to pick up maximum points. Magpies Ladies were beaten 3-0 at a strong Cambridge City side in their third East Conference fixture of the season.

As the first-half progressed Cambridge's Olympic gold medallist Helen Richardson-Walsh began to take control of midfield and the hosts went in front on 15 minutes following after a fine move down the left.

For the remainder of the first half Cambridge continued to control the game without putting Magpies' keeper Charlotte Peet under too much pressure.

The visitors won a number of short corners at the start of the second half and a Lucy Whiting effort struck the woodwork.

But Cambridge rode the storm, making it 2-0 following a quick free-hit and completing a deserved win when Richardson-Walsh converted a penalty flick.
