Harleston turned in a superb second-half display, to fight back from a goal down and claim three vital points against fourth-placed Acle Reserves, who had won five of their last six games in Anglian Combination Division Two.

Town were forced into a number of changes for the game with London, Bliss, Trudgill and Powell unavailable, but in came Renaut and Midwinter for their home debuts with leading scorer Wright and Bicker also returning

Town started confidently, passing the ball well, and were unlucky not to take the lead after just five minutes when Hadlee Wright's venomous effort from 18 yards smashed against the angle of the goal, with the keeper beaten.

Despite some good moves from Acle, the experienced Town defence stood firm and looked comfortable with Midwinter and Bicker both in impressive form. However, midway through the half the visitors did take the lead when a corner from the left looked to be heading towards Shannon in the Town goal. He was sandwiched between two Acle players and the ball was bundled over the line.

Town were asked to up the tempo after the break and made a slight change, switching to 4-4-2 – and the change brought almost immediate dividends when they won the ball high in the Acle half after some good pressure on their opponents. Rogers was shouldered off the ball in the box and Norman stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

Wihtin two minutes they were ahead – good play from Goodwin Wright found Renaut wide. His ball into the six-yard box was met by Rogers, who headed into the top corner.

Town added a third with 15 minutes remaining when Goodwin Wright's fine delivery was met by Norman, who placed his header into the bottom corner for his second of the game.

Town introduced the lively Novak and he made an instant impact, picking the ball up and driving at the Acle defence before delivering a great cross which was exquisitely volleyed home by Wright for his 17th goal of the season.

MoM: Andrew Bicker.
