Scole made the trip to Watton looking to bounce back from last week's defeat to UEA and returned home with a hard-fought win.

They made two changes with Luke Hunt coming in for his first start in place of the injured Laurence Brown and Nathan Ireland replacing Dan Ryland, who moved to the bench.

Scole took the lead when an excellent Ash Baxter corner found Tayler Pooley whose header was saved but fell kindly to the on-rushing Ben Norton-Hugman who fired home.

This should have given Scole the confidence to go on and take the game to Watton but the hosts responded well and 10 minutes later were level after a deflected free-kick found its way to an unmarked forward to tap home despite the best efforts of Buckmaster.

Scole came in at half-time knowing the importance of trying to find a way to win the game but 10 minutes into the second period Watton took the lead when a ball out wide wasn’t dealt with and the Watton winger cut inside and shot past the diving Buckmaster.

This was a thoroughly deserved goal for Watton who came out second half the much better side and in truth Scole weren’t at the races.

The visitors were now up against it and had to show character to try to get back into the game.

With 15 minutes remaining Harry Browne, back from his short stint at Wroxham, unleashed an unstoppable left footed shot into the top corner to draw Scole level.

The visitors were now throwing men forward desperately trying to force a winner but it was Watton who nearly took the lead when a swift counter attack saw their striker fire just wide from the edge of the area.

With time running out it looked like a draw was on the cards - but Bradley Hunt had other ideas. After receiving the ball in the wide left position he skipped past his man and planted an unstoppable shot into the far right corner to make it 3-2.

Scole saw out the last three minutes to record a excellent win despite being far from their best.

The win set Scole up nicely for their final game before Christmas at home to Loddon on Saturday.

Leaders Harleston Town’s scheduled home fixture against second placed Bradenham Wanderers was postponed. They have a big game at third placed Norwich CEYMS on Saturday.
