THE valiant efforts of Shirley Coe and Ronnie Bartrum earned Diss Vikings a last-gasp victory in the Norfolk Petanque League against Drayton Bob Carter Centre on Thursday.
THE valiant efforts of Shirley Coe and Ronnie Bartrum earned Diss Vikings a last-gasp victory in the Norfolk Petanque League against Drayton Bob Carter Centre on Thursday.
The teams were level after the first round with Peter Beales, Robin Coe and Ken Roberts earning a triples win for the hosts.
Captain Tony Bigley and Roberts kept the teams level after a win apiece in the first two doubles but it was left to Coe and Bartrum to scrape home 13-12 to secure the match points in the final game.
There was no joy for the other two Diss teams, both in action at Newton St Faiths.

Le Diss Sportif romped to a 2-0 interval lead against Wallabies with triples wins for Steve Penny, Jan Pinder and Yoshi Shinagawa and Roger True, Joyce Goodey and Peter Turner. But then it all went wrong as the hosts hit back to win all three doubles.
Le Diss Sportif were involved in a close Division Two match against Wombats, losing the triples 13-12 and 13-10 before succumbing 13-3 and 13-9 in the first two doubles.

It was left to captain Dave Smith and Lindsay Penny to secure the consolation win in a 4-1 defeat.
