The ever popular annual Laurie Cup competitions at Diss Golf Club were held earlier this month.

The men's competition, with a stableford format, saw some 80 golfers take part.

Seven players equalled the best score of the competition — 39 stableford points. The overall winner on countback with birdies on the final three holes was Jake Taylor while Roger Hinds came second and Harrison Groucott third.

The ladies then turned out to compete for their cup on a very blustery day which made playing conditions quite difficult. The winner (medal format) with an excellent score of net 70 was Sandra Bowman while Pat Parker was second with net 73 and Val Mendham third with net 75.

The Happy Palace (Diss) Cup also proved very popular. The winner with 18 straight pars (gross 70), which equated to 43 stableford points, was Tony Osborn. Tony was followed by Charlie Stammers with 42 points and Marianne Haines with 40 points.
