CLUB chairman Colin Manning welcomed a large attendance at the opening of the outdoor season of Diss and District Bowls Club.

Bowling the first woods, the opening of the green was performed by the Diss and District presidents Mary Johnson and Brian Flaxmer.

An open drive followed, the prizes being presented by Brian Flaxmer to the winners Brenda Mark, Richard Bird, Toby Mark, Gill Hume, Dennis Grogan and Sylvia Biggs.

With the sunny weather for the day, it is hoped this may be a good omen for the summer and a fine start for a full outdoor programme.

Coaching commences on Saturday at 10am to noon on the indoor green under the direction of club coach Reg Haydon, £5 for adults, juniors free.

Woods will be provided and some footwear as flat soled shoes/slippers have to be worn on the green. New members welcome.
