DISS Angling Club visited Walnut Tree Farm Fishery near Attleborough last Saturday and despite the sweltering heat the fish fed and good weights were being taken.

The day was dominated by Glen Orford who drew one of the pegs on the lake which is normally home to some big carp.

That didn't mean it was going to be a walk in the park, Glen still had to work out which was the best way to get the carp going and he was fishing with a new pole and was learning how to get the best out of it. switching between fishing off the top and the odd carp from the bottom.

Orford took command of the carp and put together his best weight in a match so far with his finally weight of 80lb 8oz, with his biggest carp being 11lb 6oz which took a floating dog biscuit off the top.

Second went to Andrew Mears, who like Orford used floaters and the pellet waggler shallow to take good-size carp and ended the day with 46lb. Third place went to Ben Wilby with 34lb 14oz.

Bream and carp made up the top three weights at Taswood lakes on the Sunday.

Fishing as a guest, ex-match secretary Richard Legget fished from corner peg nine on Cinnamon Lake made good work on the day and finished with a good bag of fish which went 53lb 2oz at the weigh-in.
