The University of East Anglia hosted a Mini Open Meet which gave a team of 20 Diss Otters (from eight to 12) the opportunity to show what they are made of in numerous events.

The University of East Anglia hosted a Mini Open Meet which gave a team of 20 Diss Otters (from eight to 12) the opportunity to show what they are made of in numerous events.

The evening's events consisted of the Otters competing in a total of 64 races and achieving an incredible 45 personal best times, of which 23 where of a county qualification standard.

Honorary team captains for the event where Sam Neal for the boys and Francesca Wallace for the girls. Sam picked up bronze in the 50m Front Crawl and 100m Individual Medley. Francesca achieved second place in the 50m Fly and stormed her way to victory in the 50m Front Crawl, 100m Individual Medley and 50m Breaststroke.

Further wins came for Abbie Webb (50m Front Crawl, 50m Fly, 100m Individual Medley); Charlotte Palmer (25m Front Crawl) And Pippa Rice (50m Front Crawl, 50m Fly, 100m Individual Medley, 50m Bc) With silver and bronze medals for Taylor Bowen, Luc Van Rensburg, Daniel Brooks, Sam Neal, Ellie Sarson, Nila Taylor, Harvey Sarson, Francesca Wallace, Stephanie Brown, Beth Palmer and Ryan Waters.

Further competitive swim and personal best times were achieved by Mia Reeve, Benjamin Brooks, Henry and Ruth Melton, Samantha Murphy and George Wallace.

Head Coach Jamie Rush was delighted to see so many superb swims from the relatively inexperienced and young squad.

He said: 'It was great to see the swimmers enjoying themselves, being highly motivated and competitive'.
