FOLLOWING a full day of racing at Dereham, Diss Otters find themselves in fifth position overall after the first weekend of the 2011 County Challenge competition.

A club spokesperson said: 'In total the Otters achieved 54 personal best times, which is a magnificent effort at the end of a long season.

'Bring on the second weekend. Well done all!'

Contributing to the points with top six finishes were the following swimmers.

Top-six finishes, girls: Katie Halmshaw (first in 50m front crawl, fourth in the 200m backstroke), Francesca Wallace (second in the 50m front crawl, first in the 100m breaststroke, fifth in the 200m individual medley, first in the 50m breaststroke, first in the 200m butterfly), Kirsty Barker (fifth in the 50m front crawl, sixth in the 200m individual medley, fourth in the 100m frontcrawl), Hattie Miller (second in the 50m front crawl, second in the 100m front crawl), Pippa Rice (fifth in the 200m backstroke, fifth in the 200m individual medley, second in the 200m butterfly), Ellie Sarson (third in the 200m butterfly), Emma Halmshaw (fifth in the 200m backstroke, third in the 100m breaststroke, second in the 50m breaststroke), Nila Taylor (sixth in the 200m backstroke), Caitlin Davy (fourth in the 200m backstroke, third in the 200m individual medley, fifth in the 100m front crawl), Emily Lutkin (second in the 200m butterfly) and Hannah Blades (fifth in the 100m breaststroke, fifth in the 200m individual medley, 3rd in the 50m breaststroke).

Also competing well for Diss were Ben Brooks, Ben Trowell, Ellice Green, Iwan Lloyd, Jack Turner, Josh Biddlecome, Lauren Armour, Luc Van Rensburg and Stuart Smith.
