It was also their second successive maximum league win, following on from setting another club record with a 50 point demolition of Drayton Bob Carter Centre.

Roger True, Margaret Haunton and Steve Penny rattled up a 7-0 lead in the opening triples but conceded six points before pulling clear to win. Joyce Goodey, with Chris and Jackie Johnson, made it 2-0 with a 13-10 success before the Johnsons confirmed the match points with a 10-2 win in the doubles.

Goodey and Penny went 10-0 up on their way to a 13-7 victory and it was left to True and Haunton to complete the 5-0 (65-29) whitewash, hitting back from 4-0 down to win 13-4.

There was also plenty to celebrate for the other two Diss Waveney teams.

Diss Vikings beat Division Three leaders Bob Carter Sports 4-1 and Le Diss Sportif also came out 4-1 victors in Division Two against Morley Buckaneers.

Dave Smith, Lindsay Penny and Mick Clarke had to work hard for a 13-12 win in a 90-minute marathon triples game but Liz Rudling, John Barsby and Dave Marsh were comfortable 13-5 victors.

Smith and Penny confirmed the match points with a 13-4 success in the opening doubles before wins were shared by Rudling and Clarke for Sportif and Buckaneers' Richard Beales and Audrey Edmonds.

Hoxne Swan squeezed through to the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Coastal League on Sunday.

Needing to beat Blyth Division leaders Walberswick to confirm a winners' passage, Hoxne could only manage a 2-2 draw but scraped through as the second best group runners-up by just four match points over Aldeburgh Mill Inn.

Hoxne started well with Jackie Johnson and Steve Penny going

11-0 up on their way to a 13-4 success and Chris Johnson and Derek Sutton making it 2-0 with a 13-9 success.

But Chris Johnson and Iris Sutton lost 13-9 and the match finished all square when Penny and Derek Sutton lost 13-7.

Hoxne meet Waveney Division winners and number one seeds North Cove Three Horseshoes in the quarter-final at a neutral venue for a place in the finals day at Blythburgh on September 26.

Diss Sunset Boulevards finished third in the division but ended with a bang, rattling up a league record 52-6 aggregate win at Cretingham Belles on Friday.

Dave Smith, Lindsay Penny, Liz Rudling and Mick Clarke won their four games, conceding just a one, two, three and a zero.
