On a day where a number of fixtures were lost to the weather Diss A probably wished their game against Kirkley Sports had gone the same way and saved them from a batting display which cost them the match.

With this game well and truly behind them Diss A will look to bounce back when they travel to Cromer A this coming weekend.

Bowling first, Diss kept Kirkley Sports pegged back, with the reliable Karl Gooderham again looking threatening following eight wickets in his last two matches.

It was bowling partner Steve Dungar who made the breakthrough though, skipper Crane held onto a good catch dismissing Halstein for just 2.

Gooderham then picked up a wicket just four runs later leaving Kirkley 7-2. A mini revival took place between Laws and McAlone before the latter was run out on 16.

Young Jack Bell continued his good form, picking up two middle-order batsman, while Laws went about creeping ever closer to his half-century.

The introduction of Willy Ward saw Diss claim the vital wicket of Laws, Ward's experience and wisdom sent the number four packing on 48 following an edge through to Diss keeper Allen.

A display of big hitting from Bessey ensured Kirkley Sports weren't far off a challenging 150 score, ending on 147-6.

Diss were looking for Crane and Ollie Marriott to repeat the previous week's fine opening partnership stand and give the side a solid base.

With Crane bowled for 2, Marriott bowled for 5, followed by three ducks from Darren Philpott, Mark Williamson and Karl Gooderham the game was effectively over within nine overs, with Diss on 22-6.

Archie Moore salvaged some pride for Diss, top scoring with 16, with Tom Catalano being the only other bat to make double figures (11).

Allen, Ward, Dungar and Bell barely troubled the scorers, leaving Diss all out within 23 overs for a shocking 44.
