Diss Reserves faced Gorleston in the Chell Trophy quarter-final at Emerald Park and lost 6-1.

The game was effectively decided in the first nine minutes as Gorleston raced into a 3-0 lead.

They took the lead after 16 seconds when Lewis Lacey moved on to a long ball and floated the ball over the advancing Mark Camidge. Kyle Howell made it 2-0 with a shot from 14 yards out in the fourth minute. Lacey moved on to a long free kick and shot in from 16 yards out for the third goal.

Karl Ansley had a 24th minute shot cleared off the line after he beat the goalkeeper to a pass from Dale Wilson. Ben Manning made it 4-0 when unmarked at a 44th minute corner. In first half added time Gary Warford had a header well gathered low down by Steve Cannon after a fine cross by Sean Cook.

Camidge made two good saves to deny Lacey and Scott Butler early in the second half. Wilson and Keiran Nicholls linked up down the left in the 52nd minute and created a shooting opportunity for Steve Jermy which crashed down off the underside of the bar. The ball was cleared but eventually fell for Wilson to draw a fine save with a shot from 22 yards out.

Gorleston were awarded a 69th minute penalty for a trip by Nicholls on Howell. Camidge made a fine save to keep out the kick from Butler and made a superb follow up save to deny Ian Holmes. Diss were playing well in the second half and pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to play when Jake McDowall crossed for Gary Warford to steer the ball up and over Cannon and into the net.

Butler was fortunate to see his shot fly into the top corner of the net with a wicked deflection off Chris Kapsalis in the 83rd minute to make it 5-1. The scoring was completed a minute from time when Camidge blocked a shot from Holmes and Butler put the loose ball in from eight yards out.

Diss man-of-the-match: Sean Cook defended well and drove his team down the right wing.
