Diss Saracens went through in the Eastern Counties Second Team Cup.

This was far from a vintage performance from Diss' second string, but as the 41-7 scoreline suggests, this was a relatively comfortable victory and sees the Saracens go into the semi-finals.

Diss scored seven tries but really should have scored more points with their dominance in possession and territory. The opening score came from Peter Bray, who drove over from close range after strong, tight play from the forwards.

Against the run of play Wymondham scored through a very dubious penalty try, which was duly converted. The Saracens' lead was soon restored after tries from Ed Passmore, Tony Wigby and Keith Rix, all of which were the result of line-outs close to the Wymondham line.

The second half saw Diss' play improve, with the ball finding the flanks on a more regular basis.

This saw a regular trickle of tries for the remainder of the game. Seb Goodge and Giles West scored fine solo efforts, while super-subs Benny Goodman and James Nichols scored with their first touches of the game. The Saracens resume their merit table campaign next week and will look to eradicate the errors that plagued them in this game.
