Diss Cricket Club's first team did not have a league game at the weekend but will be aiming to rack up the points against Alliance Premier Division basement side Stow this Saturday.

Attention turned to the club's other teams and Diss A drew with Stow A in Division Five with five points apiece while the B team lost to Gillingham by seven wickets.

Diss B always knew they were going to be in for a tough afternoon at Bungay Meadow against a Gillingham side that only missed out on promotion last season by 0.01 of an average.

And so it proved as Diss were bowled out for 125 in the 40th over. After losing S Davey and M Brawn to ducks, Diss were 1-2, but D Young dug in and began scoring with some well-timed boundaries. B Roberts (4), J Dunning (8) and L Brawn (18) assisted but when Young was caught behind for 23 Diss were in trouble at 55-5.

The tail wagged, including 16 runs from C Atkinson and 25no by in-form B Goldsmith. Cockling and Aldridge were the main wicket takers for the home side.

Diss' Ward bowled Stevens for four in the fifth over.

However, Patrick (43no) and Smith (52) put on 82 for the second wicket and although L Brawn and G Batley each took a wicket in the closing stages, T Hoare (16no) saw Gillingham home in the 30th over.

Diss B hope to get back to winning ways tomorrow when they travel to Martham A, while the A team travel to Winterton.

Diss U15 played host to Cringleford Lodge U15 in a friendly at Rectory Meadow and won by 29 runs.

Diss opener Kieran Pask played some fantastic shots and scored at a quick pace before being caught six runs short of what would have been a fine hundred. Mark Brawn (14), Barnaby Chenery (23) and Spenny Davey (12) were the other double-figure scorers, as Diss ended up with 169-5.

Cringleford gave a good account in their run chase with Taylor (54) leading the way.

Spenny Davey got a double wicket maiden. Pask, Blackley, Budds and Marshall all took one wicket each as Cringleford ended up on 130-6.
