In the North Suffolk Academy League Stradbroke drew with Brantham.

Stradbroke's continued policy of making their Academy XI very much family based, will always put them at a disadvantage against more experienced sides, but the format of the NS League offers the ability to draw a game should victory be out of reach.

Once visitors Brantham had posted 230 for 7 (E Knobbs 82, G Orman 45, C Nicholson 32), a draw was the only option.

Containing three father and sons, and a pair of brothers, Stradbroke tried hard, and with Matthew Seaborn (3-31) and Surjay Rughani (2-30), they at least enjoyed some reward.

As usual, Richard Pierce-Saunderson set off on a one man crusade, hitting a fluent 28. After that Seaborn continued his good all round work, hitting 39, most of them with his son as a runner.

S Webb then took a hand. From 88-3 with seven overs to survive, his mixture of seam and spin gained him 6-14, and leaving the last pair to bat out two overs to save the game.

Brantham Academy 230-7, Stradbroke Academy 101-9.
