Stradbroke played two very different T20 matches last week, winning one and losing the other.
Firstly they entertained the Headmaster’s XI, put together by retiring Stradbroke High School head Andrew Bloom.
The club won a low scoring encounter by two wickets to take a 4-3 lead in the series, set up in memory of Pte James Grigg.
A more serious encounter took place at St Margarets in Ipswich, where the home side won, not the best way for skipper Michael Hugman to mark his 800th appearance.
But Stradbroke can take solace from some aggressive batting which saw them reach 121-5, a total that looked defendable as James Gilbee took two quick wickets, taking him past 300 for the club. But the hosts proved to be too strong, despite Stradbroke’s young bowling attack never wilting in the face of the onslaught.
Stradbroke are away to Yoxford seconds in Division Nine East of the Two Counties League on Saturday.
