Diss A suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers A on Saturday, and will be looking to banish this embarrassing defeat from their memories quickly.

Not sure what to make of the pitch, Diss skipper Mike Tooke chose to bat first.

Diss immediately found themselves in dire straits, slumping to 29 for five, with keeper Ben Green being the most high profile of the dismissals. His chances of a return to the first team were dealt a huge blow after being bowled by a ripsnorter of a delivery from Saunders.

Tooke and Archie Moore worked hard to rebuild the innings, and despite both finding the boundary, spinner Pilgrim sent both travelling back to the pavilion for 14 apiece.

The tail offered little resistance to the onslaught, with Will Ward offering catching practice to the cover fielder to end the innings, Diss having lost their last five wickets for only two runs.

Each Wanderers bowler was able to tuck in and help themselves, with Mitchell recording three for 12 and Pilgrim three for 11.

Despite this, Diss heads did not drop and Archie Moore epitomised the fighting spirit within the camp with two for 19 from 11 overs.

The home side held firm, however, cruising to victory in the 26th over with Tripp making 28.

Although only one result looked likely, Diss could easily have made more out of this match, as several catches went down in the field.

Diss A 60, Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers A 64 for two.
