Diss Town, after a fifth sucessive 3-0 win, will be at home to Cornard United in the Ridgeons League Division One on Saturday (3pm).

Diss Town 3, Stowmarket Town 0

DISS continued their promotion push by winning while their four closest rivals all drew and the top three places appear now to rest between four teams — Gorleston have 56 points from 25 games, Cambridge University Press 55 from 28, Diss 54 from 26 and Whitton 52 from 24. The Tangerines visit to Cambridge on April 9 looks a crucial fixture.

Not surprisingly, Diss manager Rob Taylor named an unchanged team and they played with great confidence. Jason Cole headed narrowly wide to a Jason Cole cross and Jonny King was just high with a 20-yard shot. It took until the 31st minute for the Tangerines to take the lead and take a firm grip on the game. Jordan Rocastle turned a defender and shot into the far corner of the net for his 21st goal of the season. A few minutes later Rocastle forced Kevin Bugg to tip a shot over the bar.

Diss went 2-0 up in the 39th minute from a corner taken by Stuart Garner on the left. His well-delivered cross was headed powerfully in by Stefan Gilding for his second Diss goal. Matty Webster was forced to make a good save to deny James Graham just before half-time.

Andy Moody sent a free kick into the danger zone in the 48th minute. The ball was not cleared and Sam Bryant shot in from eight yards out for his seventh goal of the season. Diss went in search of further goals to strengthen their goal difference. King was denied by Bugg and Danny Partridge shot narrowly wide across the face of goal.

Five minutes from time Partridge had a great chance to add a fourth goal but he put his shot wide after he beat Bugg to the ball and created an open goal for himself. A minute later Stowmarket had James Horsfall sent off for bad language.

Jordan Rocastle was forced off with a groin injury at half-time. He will be hoping to recover quickly as he is in the English Colleges squad for a match this weekend. It means that he was already due to miss the Diss against Cornard game.

Danny Wynne will be available. He missed the Stowmarket win as he represented Norfolk in a tennis tournament at Wimbledon.

Everybody at Diss Town FC sends their best wishes to George Watts-Sturrock. He will shortly being travelling to America to take up a scholarship in Boston.

n Diss Reserves did not have a game last Saturday. They will be away at Debenham Leisure Centre Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
