Diss 2, March United 2

DISS Town scored late in both the first half and second half to earn a point against the Hares in a game spoiled by a strong cross-field wind, writes Tony Collins.

Diss failed to cut the ball out and Ashley Brand floated the ball over the advancing Matt Webster to give March the lead in less than 50 seconds. The Diss reply, two minutes later, saw Peter Hooks and Sam Bryant link up well with Bryant crossing low for Steve Wright to shoot on target.

Mark Shadrack played the ball through to Bryant in the 13th minute. It should have been cut out but Bryant moved into the penalty area and forced keeper Dan Heath to block his low shot.

Soon after Webster made a great block to deny Marc Welcher at a corner. Diss equalised in the 44th minute after a corner was cleared back to Stuart Garner on the right. His centre held up in the strong wind and Brendan Foley leapt at the near post to head the ball in.

March will have felt that their performance should have seen them close the gap on Diss, who moved into third place.

Webster made another good save as Brand moved through then Craig Skipp was only a foot high with a well-struck 35-yard shot as Diss tried their luck from distance soon after.

Xavier Huckle and Stuart Jenkinson were just off target before the Hares seemed set for victory when they went 2-1 ahead in the 84th minute.

Diss finished the game strongly with an 87th minute corner tipped on to the bar. A minute later Garner hit a superb equaliser.

Wright played the ball across to him on the left 30 yards out and he curled a fierce shot past a defender and into the net.
