Old Buckenham booked their place in the last eight of the Carter Cup with a comprehensive win over Garboldisham.

The Bucks won the toss on Sunday and chose to have a bat and they soon found themselves in a spot of bother, losing openers Bint and Perry in quick succession. They recovered well however with Pentz scoring his maiden half century and making 86 while Thurley made a brilliant 102. Some late order blows from Goodwin, Howes and Hendrie got Bucks to an impressive 309 but still needing to bowl well to restrict the away side.

In reply Garboldisham got to three figures without losing a wicket but then collapsed to 154 all out. Man- of-the-match Thurley picked up three wickets before tea to turn the tide back in the home side's direction.

It was only fitting that he returned to wrap the game up and return figures of four for 12 to round off an excellent win.
