Old Buckenham travelled to Acle on Saturday looking to atone for their poor batting display the previous week and came away with a well deserved win.

Terry Perry won the toss and elected to bat first on a surface that looked as though it would deteriorate throughout the day.

Perry and Matthew Bint opened and started well, with the ball cutting around on the spongy surface.

Unfortunately Bint was on a receiving end of a brilliant ball from Jas Cheema and the youngster was first to depart.

This brought Rob Thurley to the crease, who found his feet quickly, but the introduction of Alex Quinton spelt the end of Perry's innings, as the experienced batsmen smashed a full toss straight at mid-wicket. Thurley was joined at the crease by big-hitter Nick Pentz, with the pair adding some quick runs as Thurley passed 50.

Pentz went for 24 when a big hit that looked like it was flying for a maximum was caught at deep midwicket. Thankfully Thurley was able to keep the score ticking over and the all-rounder brought up his hundred with three overs to go as Bucks advanced to 200. Nevertheless, Thurley's wicket for 103 and cluster of others nearly derailed the away side's charge before a quick-fire 18 from vice-captain Andrew Lawrence dragged Bucks to 205-9.

Acle's openers used the hard new ball to their benefit, crunching anything slightly off line as the Bucks' openers struggled. But then Glen Meredith dismissed Aussie Cheema early and Tom Alexander removed Tom Wilson.

Acle were struggling to keep up with the required rate and off-spinner Alexander utilised the pressure to take the two key wickets of Josh Rowe and then Rob Porter to virtually seal victory for the away side. Acle went from scoring 70 off their first 10 overs to needing nearly seven an over in their last 10.

The trio of Robbie Austin, Lawrence and finally Meredith completely tied down the home side and wickets fell regularly. It was only fitting that man-of-the-match Thurley finished the game off with an excellent piece of fielding to run out Joe Flatt and seal a 36-run victory in the 48th over for 24 pointsy.
