PALGRAVE Tornadoes continued their unbeaten run in the Speedy Bat Sports Division One of the Diss and District Table Tennis league after beating Thrandeston 6-4.

This made it seven wins from seven matches thanks to a fine maximum from Alan Worthington.

Worthington dropped just one leg to Kev Smith but needed a doubles win whilst partnering Richard Woods to five leg win over Smith/John Pestal 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.

Smith and Pestal took the four points for Thrandeston over Colin Manning and Woods. However, it is Aslacton B in top spot, although having played two matches more than Tornadoes, after they beat Diss Table Tennis 6-4 and lost to Botesdale Batters by the same score line.

Against the Diss youngsters no player took control as John Hillman and Nigel Barker scored a brace each whilst Nathan Lamb and James Briddon did the same for the Diss team.

Against Botesdale Aslacton found Nigel Bowen again in fine form although Lionel Coe took him the distance before losing 12-14, 8-11, 12-10, 11-4, 5-11. Coe won his other games both in four legs.

Diss youngsters were also beaten 9-1 by Shotguns E where Holly Fleming and Paul Sturman were unbeaten for the visitors. Robin Shaw also bagged two wins but was beaten by James Briddon 9-11, 11-9, 11-13, 6-11. Briddon was also unfortunate to lose to Sturman in five legs 4-11, 7-11, 16-14, 14-12, 10-12 after coming back from two legs down.

In the Leisure Sport Premier division the race for second place is starting to hot up between Shotguns A, Shotguns B and Weybread Rejects.

The Rejects have played teams in recent weeks and ended up drawing the A team 5-5 but losing to the B team 6-4.

However, it was James Skilleter who produced fine unbeaten performances in both matches. After a narrow win over Peter Maybury 11-7, 8-11, 13-15, 11-6, 11-9 he went on to defeat Chris Jones 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9.

Rejects' Mark Durham was unlucky not to register a win against the B team after he lost 16-14, 8-11, 11-7, 6-11, 10-12 to Roger Crossfield and then 11-9, 4-11, 8-11, 11-8, 6-11 to Jones.

The A and B team have yet to meet in the first half of this season which expects to be a cracker.

Pulham, who were without their in-form player Steve Pendle due to a light cold, beat Roydon 6-4 although it was John Monk that did the damage for the visitors. Notable win for Nigel Manning over Keith Hunt 7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8.

Elsewhere, Palgrave Terriers beat a two-man Aslacton A 10-0. No real problems for George Cole, Tony Park and Will Cole although the latter was taken the distance by Joe Aldrich before winning 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7.
