THE wait goes on for Diss Waveney Petanque Club. Five seasons after being formed, the club is still awaiting its first knockout competition win.
All three teams lost in the first round of the Knockout Shield to stretch the club's losing run to 13.
Le Diss Sportif came closest to ending the run, going down 3-2 at Drayton Bob Carter Leisure. Mick Clarke, Lindsay and Steven Penny came back from 8-4 down to lead 11-8 in the opening triples and, had they managed two more points, it would have secured an away win.
But they lost 13-11 and the team had only the satisfaction of seeing 13-year-old Adam Penny extend his personal winning run to three games with victories in the doubles, alongside captain Dave Smith, and in the triples with the addition of Liz Rudling. Diss Duval also lost 3-2, at home to Bob Carter Centre. Chris Johnson led the way with wins in both his games, paired with Yoshi Shinagawa and in the triples with Pat Foreman and Dave Booth.

Diss Vikings faced a tough task at Premier Division Freethorpe Ferrets and had only a 13-12 last game victory for Robin Coe and Les Pegg to celebrate in a 4-1 defeat.
It came as relief for the pair, having lost 13-0 in the triples with Peter Atkins.
