Wall closes the gap

Diss Angling Club's Peter Wall is sitting within striking distance of Andrew Mears when it comes to the Sunday Points Cup.

With only four matches left, and Wall being in top form at the moment, Mears must be feeling the pressure and one slip-up at this late stage of the season could cost Mears badly, as only four points separate these anglers.

With only four matches left, and Wall being in top form at the moment, Mears must be feeling the pressure and one slip-up at this late stage of the season could cost Mears badly, as only four points separate these anglers.

Wall made no mistake last Sunday when he took another point off Mears when he finished the match the clear winner, landing three times the weight of the second-placed man Andrew Mears.

Wall fished the pole for roach, rudd and perch, with some fish topping 12oz when he fished the New Side at Eye. Wall's final weight was 13lb 10½ oz.

Mears thought he had slipped to third on the day, but the scales told him the news he wanted to hear when they settled on 4lb 7oz, with third-placed man Billy Crisp weighing in 3lb 2oz.
