With Harleston's men picking up three points against Wapping with a 4-2 win and St Albans only managing a draw, Magpies extended their lead over their rivals.

They next travel to Broxbourne where they know they will be in a tough game and that they will have to improve on this last weekend's performance to stand a chance of picking up points.

After a successful indoor campaign over the Christmas break Harleston's men's first team returned to outdoor action, hoping to carry on the good work in the first half of the season. Planning for next weekend saw Harleston welcome back Stuart Leate and James Stacey to the side.

Wapping took the game to a slow Magpies side who themselves struggled to string passes together. Harleston went a goal down within five minutes following a Wapping short corner, which took Harleston by surprise but it seemed to spur them on.

Despite Wapping pushing high Harleston struggled to find the space in behind them until Andrew Bedwell linked well with James Fanger, who burst down the wing and into the D where his shot was turned into the goal by a Wapping defender.

Harleston increased their lead before the break following a broken-down short corner Andy Hipwell managed to force the ball over the line.

Despite Harleston still struggling to play with their usual style they did go a further goal ahead when Richard Ling slotted home with a full-length dive after good forward movement from himself and James Fanger.

Tristan Baynes fired home from close range after ghosting in from left midfield.

With both teams reduced to 10 men in the last few minutes Wapping pulled a goal back.
