DISS Angling Club waters are now all open and George Wilby made the most of the week's sport by finishing first and second in two of the week's matches.

George's first place came at The Mere in Diss during a Tuesday afternoon match. He had a slow start to the day until he hooked into a very good fish on light tackle. The minutes ticked past as the battle continued and after around 50 minutes Wilby slipped the net under a 10lb 2½oz mirror carp.

Wilby added a few roach to the carp and finally weighed in 14lb 2oz. Second was Karl Hales who took all small carp and brought 10lb 13oz to the scales but was left rueing losing a 6lb carp at the net. Third was Keith Rodwell with 7lb 5oz.

Eye Ponds saw the opener of the Tony Raven Memorial and Bill Davies took a comfortable win when he took rudd and perch all on the pole.

Davies finished the match with 12lb, near double that of second place.

Steve Harold emerged as second with a finely crafted bag of small fish and weighed in 6lb 8½oz. Third was David Foulger, who packed up early and would easily have taken second place if he had stayed. His bag of fish went 4lb 14½oz.

The first Chesworth was fished on the river at Hoxne last Sunday. Andrew Mears took the first round with his feeder approach on the broad water peg eight.

Casting to the far bank Mears took perch to 11oz plus a few roach and brought 6lb 13oz to the scales. George Wilby fished the waggler just upstream of Mears and took roach to 10oz. Wilby finished with 3lb 2oz. Third was Peter Wall with 2lb ½oz.
