PALGRAVE Community Centre is getting ready for a busy summer of events, culminating in the village fete and a fun sports day.

The first event is a coffee morning on Saturday which starts at 9.30am and offers people a chance to look at old photos and news of Palgrave in the past.

Following that is an opportunity to have a clear-out at home - for the village jumble sale on Saturday, June 28.

People can take jumble to the centre from 9.30am. The sale is from 2pm, admission is 20p and cups of tea will be available..

The main event is the summer fete on Saturday, July 19. It will feature a car boot sale (set up from 11am, £5 on the day) and starts at 1pm. There will be a pet show this year and anyone who would like to take a pet to take part can phone Pat on 01379 643629 to make sure there is space. Entrants must take a box, cage or pen appropriate for their pet.

Local duo Sam and Daisy will provide music and Punch and Judy will be back. The village 100 Club will be drawn during the afternoon and there will be lots of prizes in the raffle and around the field on games and competitions.

On bank holiday Monday, August 25, a fun day is planned with a generation gap football match, rounders, go kart and pram races.
