Stradbroke's Everyone Active Swimming Pool has launched a campaign to help adults get in the swim for summer and cut the cost of sessions.

Adults who sign up for the new Learn To Swim course will qualify for free swimming during any of the Swim For All sessions, saving them up to £3 a time.

The new course, in partnership with Sport England and the Amateur Swimming Association and which started this month, costs £10 and is part of a Suffolk-wide initiative to encourage more non-swimmers to learn.

Stuart Murdy, general manager at Stradbroke Pool, said: “One in 10 adults cannot swim, which means they are missing out on a lot of family fun.

“They are also missing an excellent opportunity for good all-round exercise which will help keep them toned and fit,” he said.

“If they cannot swim there is also the prospect that their children may not learn to swim either, and we want to encourage everybody to take up this life-saving skill.”

The scheme is open to adults aged over 18 who are beginners and the course lasts for three months.

Sessions at Stradbroke Pool are on Monday evenings from 8pm to 8.30pm or Fridays from 11.30am to noon.
