The latest Diss Film Society at The Park Hotel on Monday at 8pm is The Pajama Game (U).
It is a joyous screen adaptation of the classic 1950s Broadway musical, The Pajama Game with Doris Day heading the union in a clothing factory and Eddie Foy Jnr as an efficiency expert. Bob Fosse's choreography is stunning, the songs (Hey there, I'm not at all in love, Hernando's Hideaway...) infectious, the props and colours vivid. At the same time, it is fast-moving, expert and as hard-hitting as it is splendidly performed and enjoyable. Jean-Luc Godard called it 'the first left-wing operetta'.
Admission 4; members 3; students 2.
