An Actor's Revenge (15) is the latest film for Diss Film Society at The Park Hotel on Monday at 8pm

Before the screening, Rayne Denison, a lecturer in film studies at the UEA, will give a talk setting out the context of An Actor's Revenge, a Japanese classic from 1963. Set in 1835, it follows the story of a female impersonator in a touring Kabuki acting troupe, who comes across the men who ruined his father and drove his parents to suicide 20 years earlier. He plans and exacts his revenge, first by seducing the daughter of one of them, and then ruining them. This strange and beautiful film was designed as a vehicle for the great Kabuki actor Kasuo Hasegawa, playing his 300th film role.

Admission £4; members £3; students £2.
