Filmmaker Werner Herzog travelled to Antarctica to capture its extraordinary landscape, living with the scientists at McMurdo station during five months of perpetual light. He explored the nature of life and the possibility of its extinction with beauty, music, remarkable insights into the natural world and the human condition, and humour - much of it from the very interesting range of people who find themselves out in the cold.
