A day of events to raise money to help safeguard the future of the Suffolk Punch horse will be held on Saturday. Local folk singer and musician Steve Matthews, who is a lifelong admirer of the breed, has organised the fundraiser at the village hall at Brome, near Eye.
A day of events to raise money to help safeguard the future of the Suffolk Punch horse will be held on Saturday.
Local folk singer and musician Steve Matthews, who is a lifelong admirer of the breed, has organised the fundraiser at the village hall at Brome, near Eye.
It will start with an exhibition of horse and farming memorabilia at 1.30pm, followed by a talk at 3.30pm by Ray Hubbard of Diss, one of the last surviving people to have spent their lives working with Suffolk horses. A concert in the evening will feature traditional music, song and step-dancing led by the Suffolk Punch Concert Party.
Entrance to the exhibition and talk are free. Tickets for the music night cost £5, and can be booked in advance by telephoning Mr Matthews on 01379 871252. Proceeds are for the Suffolk Horse Society.
