Garboldisham villagers are celebrating midsummer this weekend with open gardens, a scarecrow trail, a school fair and other entertainments.The aim is to bring villagers together, raise funds for village groups and celebrate Garboldisham's history and community spirit.
Garboldisham villagers are celebrating midsummer this weekend with open gardens, a scarecrow trail, a school fair and other entertainments.
The aim is to bring villagers together, raise funds for village groups and celebrate Garboldisham's history and community spirit.
On Saturday Garboldisham Primary is holding its annual summer fair between 11am and 3pm which this year will include a free circus workshop for children, traditional children's races with prizes for the winners, arts and crafts activities, face painting, balloons, inflatables plus all the usual stalls, a barbecue and an exhibition of children's art in neighbouring St John's Church.
The medieval church will be open to visitors Saturday and Sunday, 11am-5pm, offering visitors floral displays, trips up the bell tower, cakes and teas and a village history display. Many private gardens will be open, with tickets £5 for adults, accompanied children free, and visitors can also follow a scarecrow trail around the village, voting for their favourite. There will also be a bar, toilets and free parking at the village hall.
