Diss Film Society at The Park Hotel is showing There will be Blood (15) on Monday at 8pm.

Daniel Day Lewis deservedly won this year's Oscar for Best Actor for his towering performance in this film. As a prospector hungry to buy oil rich land, Day-Lewis manipulates local landowners, exploits his adopted son and connives with the local pastor - who has his own agenda for the profits. As the oil flows, conflict arises between the protagonists, and Plainview's real self emerges as he sinks into a malevolent madness.

Admission £4; members £3; students £2.
