Diss Corn Hall – with Diss Museum – offers a rare opportunity to experience the music and art of one of the world’s most fascinating and mystical cultures, when they host a week of workshops and performance by the Tibetan Monks of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

Witness the creation of an astonishing sand mandala, the moving destruction ceremony, see an inspiring performance, and learn ancient Tibetan crafts, music and dance.

Over the week, the monks will create a mandala made out of millions of coloured grains of sand which are painstakingly laid into place to form an intricate design. From the spiritual dedication on Monday to the destruction ceremony on Saturday, this spectacle will be inspiring. Work on the mandala can be viewed at any time from 11am to 5.30pm on Monday and 9am-5.30pm, Tuesday to Friday. Entry is free.

A workshop in butter sculpture, mandala making, Tibetan script and prayer flag printing will take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm. Price £7, under-16s £4, family £19.

On Wednesday, the moving film ‘Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion’ will be shown. Tickets £4, children/students £2, family £10.

A workshop covering music, dance, debate and mudras will be on Thursday, October 27, at 7.30pm. Ticket prices as on Tuesday.

A supper workshop on Friday, October 28, at 7.30pm, will provide the opportunity to enjoy a traditional monastic supper, followed by dance, debate, mudras and Kundrik prayer. Tickets £15.

The finished sand mandala can be viewed on Saturday, October 29, 9am-10.45am before the dramatic destruction ceremony at 11am. Tickets £8, under-16s £4, family £20. Then there will be an unforgettable performance of sacred music, dances and prayers with colourful traditional costumes and ceremonial masks at 7.30pm. Tickets £10, under-16s £7, family £28.

Season tickets for all the events cost £35, under-16s £28.
